Time on the dance floor and time behind the mic or music stand get you thinking about choreography – what sequences could be combined to create a new dance. What comes next is a kind of choreographic rubix cube, playing with how to create a great dance. Susan’s first contra dance, “The Country of Marriage” came in 1992, with squares and English dances to follow.
Susan represents a new voice in English country dance choreography. Tunes by her band mate, Rachel Bell, have inspired her to choreograph a dozen English dances and counting, including “Trip to Provence” and “Moonflower” which are making their way onto dance floors and ball programs in the US and England. She also collaborates with Dave Wiesler and Eric Schedler.
